Performing Arts

The YULA Performing Arts Department performs a musical in the Fall semester and a comedy/drama (non-musical) in the Spring.

Under the direction of Margy Horowitz, each production mirrors the professional stage, from auditions through readings, character development, set design, costumes, sound, lights, etc. Students participating in the musical will also work on vocal technique and musicality as well as choreography.

The performing arts program is an intense but extremely rewarding activity through which the students gain the benefits of an arts program as well as the invaluable rewards of cooperative effort. We maintain a spirit of teamwork and encouragement throughout all rehearsals and performances.

The YULA Drama Society has consistently shined on stage in its annual production. Past plays have included a variety of drama, comedies, and thrillers such as "Kinder Transport," "A Pack of Lies," "Steel Magnolias," "The Curious Savage," "Blithe Spirit," "The Diary of Anne Frank", "Toward Zero, and "Little Women".
